Pediatric Dysphagia: Thickeners and Systematic Weaning

This course focused on describing the various types of thickeners, the pros and cons of each, the International Dysphagia Diet Standardization Initiative Testing, motor learning principles and the systematic weaning protocol.

Alyson Ware, MS, CCC-SLP, CLC

Bio:

Alyson Ware is a pediatric speech-language pathologist is a pediatric speech- language pathologist with experience in infants, toddlers and young children. She has worked in private practice, early childhood intervention and a children’s hospital. Alyson has taken over 200 hours of continuing education in the area of pediatric feeding and swallowing. She is currently working towards her Board Certification in Swallowing and Swallowing Disorders.

Brianna Miluk, MS, CCC-SLP, CLC is a speech language pathologist and Certified Lactation Counselor who focuses on pediatric feeding and swallowing disorders. She especially loves serving infants and medically complex children. Bri strives to provide treatment that builds on responsive feeding approaches, is multidisciplinary, and considers a child's zone of proximal development and principles of neuroplasticity. She primarily works in the home health setting and enjoys mentoring future and current SLPs interested in PFDs.
